"Construction is scheduled to start in the coming weeks on a significant component of Evanston's lakefront master plan that will bring major changes to the Clark Street Beach area, city officials said.
The City Council voted last week in favor of the $1.17 million Clark Street Beach project, which will see construction of two small pavilions with bathrooms, storage and concessions, said Stefanie Levine, landscape architect with the city.
The project also calls for the demolition of the old bathroom facilities at Clark Street Beach, construction of an access road near the north end of the beach, and closure of the small section of road that allows traffic to enter a parking area south of the beach, Levine said. "
